The 16 inch M3 display uses mini-LED backlighting with ProMotion for adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. HDR support with 1600 nits peak brightness. The large panel means alot of screen real estate for professionals but also more surface area that can get damaged.
Inside the display assembly theres the LCD panel with mini-LED backlight array, camera and cabling. When we do LCD only repairs we swap just the panel. Full display replacement swaps the whole assembly.

LCD only replacement means swapping just the internal display panel while still keeping your original housing. Metal frame stays, camera stays, cabling stays. We remove the damaged panel and fit a new one.
This repair is available when the housing meets eligibility requirements. No dents, no bends. No liquid exposure. The 16 inch panels are expensive so LCD only saves significant cost when the housing is eligible.
Full display replacement is necessary when the housing has damage. Dented frame, bent corners, liquid exposure. These mean LCD only wont work properly and full replacement is needed.
With full display replacement we swap the entire lid assembly. As such its a bigger repair. True Tone may not work after full display replacement.
