The housing cant have dents or bends for this to work. If theres housing damage then full display assembly replacement is required.

The A2918 display uses mini-LED backlighting with ProMotion for 120Hz refresh. True Tone colour adjustment is included. The calibration data for True Tone lives in the display housing. As such LCD only repair keeps True Tone working because that housing stays in place. Full assembly replacement means new housing and the True Tone data doesnt transfer across.

Impact cracks from drops are common. The display fractures on impact with visible crack patterns. Pressure damage is another frequent one where something gets pressed against the closed lid. The mini-LED display can fail in sections showing dark patches.
