The 2021 MacBook Pro 14 inch was a major redesign. Notch at the top of the display, mini-LED backlighting, ProMotion up to 120Hz, MagSafe charging returning, HDMI port and SD card slot. The display design that Apple has continued with newer M2, M3 and M4 models.
Inside the display assembly theres the LCD panel with mini-LED backlight array, camera module and cabling. When we do LCD only repairs we swap just the panel. Full display replacement swaps the whole assembly.

LCD only replacement means swapping just the internal display panel while still keeping your original housing. Metal frame stays, camera stays, cabling stays. We remove the damaged panel and fit a new one.
This repair is available when the housing meets eligibility requirements. No dents, no bends in the frame. No liquid exposure. Bezel and corners in good condition. The team assess this at drop off.
Full display replacement is necessary when the housing has damage. Dented frame, bent corners, liquid exposure around the display. These mean LCD only wont work properly.
With full display replacement we swap the entire lid assembly. As such its a bigger repair. True Tone may not work after because Apple ties this to the original display.
