The 13 inch Touch Bar Pro was popular for years. Compact and capable. Weve seen alot of them come through. Had one from Blacktown where a developer cracked the screen after their cat knocked it off a desk. Housing was fine so LCD only repair worked out cheaper than full assembly.

The housing cant have dents or bends for this to work. If theres housing damage then full display assembly replacement is required.
The 13 inch Pro has a compact design. We had one where the corner got bent from a fall. Full assembly was needed but it came out looking like new.
True Tone is available on 2018 and later models but not on 2016-2017. On models that have it the calibration data lives in the display housing. As such LCD only repair keeps True Tone working. Full assembly means new housing and True Tone data doesnt transfer.

A1706 is 2016-2017 without True Tone. A1989 is 2018-2019 with True Tone. A2159 is the entry level 2019 with two ports. A2251 and A2289 are 2020 models with four ports and two ports respectively. Display repair approach is similar across all of them.

Impact cracks from drops are the main thing. The Retina display fractures on impact with visible crack patterns. Pressure damage is another common one where something gets pressed against the closed lid. The LCD can fail in sections.
The Touch Bar is a separate component. If thats working and only the main display is damaged we just do the screen.
